About the RQGE

The Réseau Quebecois des Groupes Ecologistes (RQGE) is:

• A communication network for the ecologists of Quebec.
• An organization that protects the rights of the ecologist groups
• A partner for political actions
• A very committed advocate of the environment
• A reference point for every citizen who wants to commit to the ecology
• A multiple services and tools provider to its members

Actions of the RQGE:

• Acknowledgement and financing of the Ecologist groups
  • Action 1: Political representation / Ecologist Groups Support Programs
  • Action 2: Green funds
• Political representations linked to policies, laws and rules & regulations:

Action 1: Strategic Lawsuit Against Participation (SLAPP). Objective: to defend the rights of citizens to participate to the political life in regards with the environment.

Action 2: Forest. Objective: Increase the development of the protected areas in Quebec.

Tools:

1. Representations to the politicians provincial, regional, local
2. Tool kit to help the work of the local organizations
3. Education and development of the population awareness
4. Press releases to the media

Action 3: Possible Electoral campaign: Increase the visibility via the media at the provincial level to let know what RQGE expects from the politicians.

Action 4: A sustainable development law and consultations. Objective: To represent the members of the RQGE.

• Networking with the environment sector and with the other community sectors.  i.e. Support the “Coalition Quebec Vert Kyoto”; Partnership with associations of women, the young people and with the First Nations.
• Education and Training on the Environment
• Communications: Development of the internet site; environmental groups’ bulletins and reports sent to a larger public

By undertaking the actions listed above, the RGQE contributes greatly to the collective defence of the citizens’ rights for a better environment.
